We’re Divya & Alwin. Like many cat parents, Chompz was born out of our own need to do better for our cats.
We live with 4 cats at home and care for several community cats every day. As our home grew from one cat to four, we noticed food bills going up but our cats’ health didn’t reflect that.
We kept trying different foods, hoping to find something that balanced nutrition with our budgets, but nothing really worked.

For a long time, we believed the common myth that “dry food or kibble will kill your cat” and carried the guilt of being bad pet parents if we fed them dry food. So we stuck to wet food and boiled chicken. But only feeding wet food was tough as it was expensive, repetitive, and our cats eventually grew bored of it.
This is where we realized our approach to feeding has to be more holistic & has to include different food formats, without burning a hole in our pockets.
We started digging deeper into why kibble gets such a bad name, and found the real problem lies usually in the ingredients. Instead of asking cat parents to avoid dry food or overspend on alternatives, we decided to reinvent it by making it healthier, safer, and something we’d proudly feed our own cats.

Chompz is gently oven-baked (similar to how humans bake cookies or bread), rather than extruded or cooked at very high heat. This helps preserve nutrients and creates a tastier, crunchier kibble. We use clean, natural ingredients with no by-products or synthetic preservatives. Our recipe is formulated with ~32% protein, a level that supports healthy muscles while helping indoor cats maintain an ideal weight. Every scoop is fortified with a vet-formulated vitamin & mineral premix to provide complete and balanced nutrition, supporting immunity, coat health, and overall wellbeing much like how humans rely on supplements to meet their nutritional needs.
Animal by-products are parts of animals like organs (liver, kidneys, lungs), entrails, etc., that are left over after the “primary” meat parts are used. According to AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials), by-products are secondary products produced alongside regular meat sourcing. Many by-products are nutritious (organs have vitamins and minerals), but because the term is vague, it can include wide-varying quality. Some products also use by-products to cut cost, which can mean less consistency. Chompz instead uses cleaner, named protein sources like chicken meal or fish meal so you know exactly what you’re feeding your cat that is better protein quality, more predictable nutrition, and no surprises.

“Chicken meal” or “fish meal” is a concentrated protein ingredient made by cooking, drying, and grinding clean parts of the animal such as meat, skin, and bones without including unwanted parts like feathers, beaks, hooves, or intestines.
Because the moisture is removed, the protein gets more concentrated, which means better nutritional value per gram. It also tends to be more consistent in quality, so you get a predictable level of protein, minerals etc. By-products (especially vague ones) can mix many types of organs, offal, etc., with different nutritional profiles and quality. Using a clean “meal” lets us control what’s in the food, ensures safety, and better support for health goals.
That’s why Chompz uses meal as it’s cleaner, safer, and provides reliable nutrition.
Chompz stays fresh with the help of natural antioxidants like Vitamin E (tocopherols) and rosemary extract. These protect the fats and proteins in the recipe from spoiling, while keeping the taste and nutrition intact. While synthetic preservatives such as BHA or BHT are legally approved and widely used across the food industry, we choose not to use them. Instead, we rely on natural alternatives that align with our clean-ingredient philosophy.
We use hydrolyzed pea protein because it’s easier for cats to digest. The protein is broken down into smaller parts, which the body can absorb more smoothly. It also helps bind the kibble during baking and adds plant protein to balance the nutrition alongside meat proteins. Hydrolyzed vegetable proteins are also widely used in human foods, which shows their safety and reliability.

Chompz comes in two convenient pack sizes right now:
Trial Pack (50 g): Perfect for testing the food — one day’s worth for an average adult cat weighing 4–5 kg.
Medium Pack (500 g): Ideal for regular feeding and great for single-cat households.
We’ll soon be introducing larger packs (1 kg and above) that are more economical and designed to last up to a month, depending on your cat’s needs.

Most dry cat foods are made through extrusion, where dough is cooked at 120–180°C under high pressure. This process can cause some nutrient loss, which then needs to be made up by adding synthetic vitamins or fortifiers after cooking. Chompz takes a gentler approach. Our kibble is oven-baked at lower temperatures around 60°C, similar to how you’d bake bread or cookies. This helps preserve natural nutrients, keeps the recipe cleaner, and creates a crunchier texture and richer flavor that cats love.
Our vet-formulated premix ensures every bowl of Chompz goes beyond basic protein. It includes nutrients that support immunity (vitamin E, selenium), a healthy skin & shiny coat (biotin, zinc, copper, omega-3 from flaxseed), strong bones & teeth (calcium, phosphorus, vitamin D3), and daily energy & metabolism (B-vitamins, choline).

Chompz kibbles are small, bite-sized pieces, about the size of a green pea (5–7 mm wide and 4–5 mm thick). They are made in a non-pointed triangular shape, which makes them easy for cats to pick up and chew comfortably.
The kibbles are naturally light brown because we don’t add artificial colors or darkening agents. What you see is the true baked finish. Baking also gives them a crunchy texture that cats enjoy, while helping keep their teeth engaged.
Carbohydrates play an important role in baked cat food. They help hold the kibble together, provide a steady source of energy, and add fiber for healthy digestion. Cats don’t need large amounts of carbs, which is why Chompz uses them in moderation, just enough to make a crunchy kibble and balance the recipe.
